Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 1 in 3 adults in the U.S. have hypertension. Amongst first responders (firefighters, fire officers, police officers, and emergency medical services personnel) , the rates are even higher: research predicts that 75% of emergency responders have hypertension.
We believe that a high quality of life can be prolonged by identifying and managing high blood pressure - hypertension - early.
Participants use Bluetooth-enabled blood pressure management devices to measure their blood pressure (BP). Readings are automatically sent to participants phones and to our program clinicians who track all readings remotely. When necessary, we contact participants to discuss follow-up care options.
By participating in the Hypertension Prevention Program, you have access to our collaborative and caring team, from our cardiologists to our administrative staff.
Dr. David Ores, founder of Hypertension Prevention for First Responders (HPFR) Inc. works closely with the Program at Mount Sinai to accomplish our shared goal of identifying and managing hypertension before it becomes an issue.
